Calgary City Council has apparently approved higher-density rezoning around the future Sunalta LRT station. Given the City’s track history with development, I have to say that I’ll believe it when I see it! Calgary has a nasty habit of growing outwards instead of upwards. This is easily evidenced by our excessive and seemingly-unstoppable sprawl into the land surrounding the outskirts. I am not convinced that City Council knows the meaning of upward development, and I will not believe it until I see it. If it actually happens, I’m sure it will be yet another unsightly monstrosity designed by some “architect” hand picked by Council without public tender. Time will tell.
